Benedictine Lower Shore is a small day school program providing education and related services for students with Intellectual Disabilities, Multiple Disabilities, and Autism in Grades K-8.
Benedictine Lower Shore provides intensive support to students who have complex needs with a high staff:student ratio. It is a satellite program to the main Benedictine School program in Ridgely, Maryland which has been in operation for more than 65 years and is guided by the same mission of “supporting children and adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities so they can achieve their greatest potential.”
The Benedictine Lower Shore Day Program focuses on the needs of the whole child and in maximizing existing strengths through highly individualized programming. Classroom instruction and practice is provided in the areas of:
Modified curriculum and materials are used to implement the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.
A variety of teaching strategies and behavioral techniques with a focus on research-based methods are employed to assist the student in progressing. Services are provided in a highly structured setting with a priority on safety. Physical structuring, visual supports, and multisensory tools combine with consistency and collaboration amongst team members to meet students where they are in their learning to achieve success.
