Cornerstone Awards

Celebrating those whose steadfast loyalty has been a firm foundation for Benedictine

In the early 1960s, the Benedictine School was in its infancy but was also fortunate to have generous and influential friends – people who without, Benedictine would simply not be the place it is today. In order to recognize the impact those individuals have made through the years, the Foundation created the Cornerstone Award.

Recipients are selected for their extraordinary support of Benedictine, and to date only five have been chosen for this award: Joseph S. Keetly, The Charles and Katherine “Kitty” Knott family, Joseph W. and Katherine “Kitty” Holecheck, James and Joseph Colburn, and Senator Thomas V. Mike Miller.

The award inscription reads, “Like a steadfast cornerstone, your loyalty is a firm foundation and a powerful example for all who share your care and concern for children and adults with disabilities. We are forever grateful.

Emerald Society

The Emerald Society is Benedictine’s legacy giving society, affectionately named in honor of Sister Jeannette Murray, whose dedication and love for the Benedictine School, as well as her enthusiasm for Ireland, continues with her legacy here.

For nearly 40 years, her passion and determination made a significant impact on the lives of students each day. Her “won’t take no for an answer” attitude helped the School become the nationally accredited state-of-the-art education center it is today.

For those who knew Sister Jeannette, it comes as no surprise that the name of Benedictine’s legacy giving society pays tribute to her beloved Ireland. Becoming an Emerald Society member ensures the future needs of the children and adults are met. Consider joining today!
