“We are very excited to be teaming up with Across the Bay 10k to raise funds that will benefit people with disabilities.”
“A walk through Benedictine’s campus convinced our team that this was a cause worth running for,” announced race co-founder Peter Paris, of Chesapeake Bay Bridge Run, LLC. “Benedictine provides educational, residential, vocational and day services for 250 children and adults ages 5 and older, with developmental disabilities, including autism, from throughout Maryland and other Mid-Atlantic states. In addition to their main campus, Benedictine operates 17 group homes in Anne Arundel, Talbot and Caroline counties,” Paris noted.

Barry Smale, director of The Benedictine Foundation, commented, “We are very excited to be teaming up with Across the Bay 10k to raise funds that will benefit people with disabilities. Needless to say, we expect this to be one of our most successful fundraising events of the year.”

In addition to bringing Benedictine on board as a beneficiary, the race organizers are thrilled to have Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Bosom Buddies Charities back this year. Chesapeake Bay Foundation is a regional non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Bosom Buddies Charities is driven by its mission to promote breast cancer awareness, facilitate early detection, and support treatment and healing among those afflicted.

Across the Bay 10k will take runners and walkers across the eastbound span of the iconic, 4.3-mile Chesapeake Bay Bridge, which reaches 186 feet at its tallest point. “The event is expected to draw more than 25,000 participants this year and our goal is to connect each of our runners with one of these great causes,” said Sparrow Rogers, race co-founder.
