Benedictine Charity Golf Tournament Raises $60,000 On Friday, October 19th, The Benedictine School of Ridgely hosted their 24th Annual Charity Golf Classic at River House Golf Course at the Easton Club in Easton. The event raised about $60,000 to help support the 200 children and adults with disabilities at Benedictine Programs and Services. Barry Smale, the Benedictine Foundation’s Director, speaking on behalf of Benedictine’s recently retired Executive Director Sister Jeannette Murray, O.S.B., said, “This tournament brings some of Benedictine’s best friends back together year after year. The location has changed, but these golfers and sponsors are a part of our family, a network of support which is a great blessing to us all.” As usual, the playing field was sold out, and 134 golfers played. Golfers received premium gift bags, a great lunch and a splendid dinner featuring a seafood bar of unlimited oysters and shrimp. The benefit auction offered attractive packages of golf outings, restaurant certificates, a weekend stay in New York City and a baseball bat autographed by the Phillies’ Jimmy Rollins. Other exciting features were a 50/50 raffle, a drawing for a spectacular “Wheelbarrow of Cheer” and a chance to sink a 50’ putt for $10,000 in cash. For these and many other reasons, the Benedictine Charity Golf Classic is one of the region’s premiere golf tournaments. The tournament winners were the team from Insurance Solutions in Annapolis. 1st place: Larry Ulvila, Brian Goff, Vince Trasatti, Joe Zdrojewski; 2nd place: Tom Delaney, Chris Murphy, Craig Wanner, James Correa; 3rd place: Larry Hoffman, Matt Hoffman, Michael Klein, Rob Blakely; 4th place: Dixie Hughlett, Lane Wroth, Robert Moore, Tom Hanna.
