On Friday, October 18, Benedictine hosted our 25th Annual Charity Golf Classic at River House Golf at the Easton Club. The event raised over $58,000 to support children and adults with developmental disabilities at Benedictine. Remarked Executive Director Scott Evans, who played in the tournament, “We were blessed with a beautiful day that made it a pleasure to be out on the course. This tournament brings some of Benedictine’s best friends back together year after year. Our golfers and sponsors are a network of support which makes possible what we do to improve the lives of individuals with special needs.” Over the past 24 years, this tournament has netted about $500,000 to benefit the children and adults at Benedictine.
The 25th Annual tournament was held for its second year on the course at River House Golf at the Easton Club. Over 100 golfers played. Golfers received premium gift bags, a great brunch and a splendid dinner featuring a raw bar of oysters and steamed shrimp. The benefit auction offered attractive packages of golf outings, restaurant certificates, sports memorabilia including a Joe Flacco autographed football and Cal Ripken autographed bat, and a weekend stay in New York City. Other exciting features were a 50/50 raffle, a drawing for three festive “Baskets of Cheer” and a chance to sink a 50’ putt for $10,000 in cash. For these and many other reasons, the Benedictine Charity Golf Classic is one of the region’s premiere golf tournaments.
Congratulations to the winning team from the Whalen Company of Easton: James Correa, Tom Delaney, Chris Murphy, and Craig Wanner. Special thanks to the event’s lead sponsor PNC Bank, who’s generous support has made the tournament a success for many years. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
